Costa Esmeralda Airport
The new Costa Esmeralda Airport is now open, offering easier access to Guacalito de la Isla and Mukul. Travelers looking to visit Guacalito or other nearby properties along the Emerald Coast are able to use the airport through international private jets or with La Costeña Airlines from Managua (Nicaragua) and Sansa Airlines from Liberia (Costa Rica). The airport also has a duty-free shop and an international Customs Department to make entry into Nicaragua a seamless one.
There are 10 scheduled commercial flights per week, with two daily flights from Liberia International Airport on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Private charter flights are also available to be booked with both Sansa Airlines from Costa Rica and La Costeña in Nicaragua. All commercial flights can be booked with your travel agent or directly on the airline websites.
Funded by the owners of Mukul and Guacalito de la Isla, the airport has a 5,000-foot runway and can accommodate ATR-42 / ATR-72 and Gulf Stream jets. The airport is located 5 miles north of Guacalito de la Isla in Rivas, Nicaragua - an approximate 10-minute drive from the resort.
